Zee TV to build pre-primetime slot with new shows
MUMBAI: After conquering the 9-10.30 pm slots, Hindi GEC Zee TV is now looking forward to building its early prime time under the leadership of its new head Aparna Bhosle.
Zee TV has a strong hold on the 9 to 10.30 pm slots with shows like ‘Kumkum Bhagya’, ‘Kundali Bhagya’ and ‘Ishq Subhan Allah’. The channel is strengthening its 8 to 9 pm slot with the launch of two new shows ‘Tujhse Hai Raabta’ and ‘Guddan – Tumse Na Ho Paayega’ from 3 September.
Post the launch of these two new shows, Zee TV business head Aparna Bhosle is planning to build the pre-prime time slots with strong shows that are inspirational.
“Under Deepak Rajadhyaksha, we have built a strong 9 to 10.30 pm slot. We are taking it forward with the launch of these shows. I am hoping that they will do great as well. Later on, we are going to focus on pre-prime time,” Bhosle told TelevisionPost.com.
Bhosle said that the main focus for her is building Zee TV into a robust channel. “For me, the main focus is to work with this team and make Zee TV one robust channel that is truly inspirational for the Indian middle class. I will work with the team to get it there. It is easier said than done but there is a lot to learn,” she stated.
Queried about the challenges in the new role, she said, “When the channel is at the top position, the challenge is to hold on to that position. It is easier when the channel is somewhere down on the board because then you can see what the leaders are doing and figure out the ways to work up. My job will be that Deepak has got the channel to this level, now how working with the team can I take it higher.”
According to Bhosle, writing a good script is the key to a show’s success along with good characters. She cited the example of ‘Ishq Subhan Allah’ to bring home the point.
“Our focus at Zee is the writing, you have a good show with great characters which are written accurately and people identify with them then it works like it happened with Ishq Subhan Allah. It is what we will continue to do as it is our strength,” Bhosle noted.
