Wired broadband subs fall 0.16% to 17.94 mn in May
MUMBAI: The total number of wired broadband subscribers has declined 0.16% to 17.94 million in May compared to 17.97 million in April, according to Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) telecom subscription data report for May.
As per the reports received from 280 operators as compared to 270 operators in the previous month, the number of broadband subscribers increased 2.91% to 432 million at the end of May from 419.79 million at the end of April.
Top five service providers constituted 97.54% market share of the total broadband subscribers at the end of May. These service providers were Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (205.54 million), Bharti Airtel (91.59 million), Vodafone (61.42 million), Idea Cellular (42.07 million) and BSNL (20.75 million).
The top five Wired Broadband Service providers were BSNL (9.19 million), Bharti Airtel (2.20 million), Atria Convergence Technologies (1.32 million), MTNL (0.85 million) and Hathway Cable & Datacom (0.79 million).
The top five Wireless Broadband Service providers were Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (205.54 million), Bharti Airtel (89.40 million), Vodafone (61.42 million), Idea Cellular (42.07 million) and BSNL (11.56 million).
