Viacom18 Motion Pictures to launch five films in 2018

MUMBAI: Viacom18 Motion Pictures has announced five films which is scheduled to release by the end of 2018.

The studio will be launching films spanning across various genre and languages such as Marathi, English and Hindi. The list comprises of Andhadhun, Manto, Mission Impossible: Fallout, Ani….Kashinath Ghanekar and untitled horror thriller by Jeethu Joseph.

Viacom18 Motion Pictures will be exclusively distributing the sixth installment of Tom Cruise’s popular Mission: Impossible film series. Mission Impossible: Fallout will release in India on July 27 2018. The film directed by Christopher McQuarrie will feature Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Ving Rhames, Sean Harris, Michelle Monaghan, and Alec Baldwin reprising their roles from previous films, with Henry Cavill and Angela Bassett joining the franchise.

Mission:Impossible finds Ethan Hunt and his IMF team along with some familiar allies in a race against time after a mission gone wrong. He is hunted by assassins and former allies while trying to prevent a global catastrophe.

The English action thriller will be followed by the release of Viacom18’s thriller AndhaDhun directed by Sriram Raghavan. The film will be released in cinemas on August 31, 2018. Produced by Viacom18 Movies and Matchbox Pix, the film stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Radhika Apte. Set in Pune, the film revolves around a blind pianist.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Manto marks the directorial venture of Nandita Das and has been showcased in several film festival including Cannes Film Festival. The biographical film featured Siddiqui is the title role of Indo-Pakistani author, writer Saadat Hasan Manto. He was one of the greatest short story writers of his generation and his short stories set during the devastating partition of the Indian subcontinent were his defining works. The release date of the film is not yet revealed.

Celebrating Diwali, Viacom18 Motion Pictures will release yet another biopic revolving around Marathi actor Dr Kashinath Ghanekar on November 7. Directed by Abhijeet Deshpande, the title character will be play popular Marathi actor Subodh Bhave who will share screen along with with Sonali Kulkarni and Sumeet Raghavan. The Marathi film set in 1960 will celebrate the rise and fall of the actor who dramatically changed the face of Marathi theatre.

Viacom18 started the year with the launch of two blockbusters epic drama Padmaavat and mystery film Aapla Manus produced by Ajay Devgn. Though Padmaavat was delayed due to some controversy, it succeeded in becoming the year’s top film to lead the weekend box office collection with Rs 114 crore. Despite not being released in some states of India, it grossed over ₹5.85 billion (US$87 million) at the box office, becoming a commercial success and one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time.

Recently, Viacom18 Motion Pictures also launched its digital content brand ‘Tipping Point’ which will extend the company’s ethos by creating contemporary, engaging and path-breaking content for online audiences. The brand will be offering a host of web series, short films and non-traditional formats with unconventional narratives.
