TVP’s digital summit GroundPost stops at Agra

MUMBAI: After successful events in Solapur, Indore, Pune and Patna, GroundPost,’s on-ground initiative, next moves to Agra, the city of the Taj Mahal.

The event will take place on 14 October at Hotel Radisson Blue. Agra is one of the seven cities in Uttar Pradesh that was part of Phase II of digital addressable system (DAS).

Incidentally, the Agra leg of GroundPost comes at a time when the government has extended the DAS deadline for Phases III and IV to December 2015 and 2016 respectively.

The Agra event will see industry experts share their experiences of and learning from the first two phases of digitisation, and how the industry can tackle contentious issues to move forward with billing and packaging.


At the day-long summit, industry experts will give their views on a number of issues including carriage, content cost, opportunities, scope of regional channels, billing and packaging.

The event features a number of speakers including GS Kesarwani (TRAI), Amit Arora (IndiaCast), Omesh Uppal (IndiaCast UTV), Sudhir Sareen (Hathway Cable), Manoj Barara (Cisco Systems), Shikha Sharma (Cisco Systems), Vivek Arora (Discovery Networks), Jagraj Singh Sanghera (MSM Discovery) and MK Rouse (IMCL).

The event is expected to be attended by 250+ delegates including local cable operators (LCOs), independent multi-system operators (MSOs) and broadcasters from Agra, Mathura and adjoining areas.

The event will begin with a presentation by co-founder and CEO Himanshu Dhoreliya, followed by Agra research synopsis to be presented by co-founder and editor-in-chief Sibabrata Das.

TRAI deputy advisor GS Kesarwani will deliver the keynote address at the event, which will be followed by industry experts deciphering the impact of digitisation in UP and a Q&A session.

There will be two sessions—one focusing on building an effective broadband network and the other dwelling on dynamics of Agra, Mathura and adjoining markets. Adding entertainment to the event will be the cast of Colors’ latest fiction show ‘Udan’.

“The stated objective of GroundPost is to get key stakeholders on a single platform to discuss and deliberate on the way forward to monetise cable TV digitisation. We have received outstanding response from the cable TV community in Solapur, Indore, Pune and Patna,” said Dhoreliya.
