TRAI reprimands five West Bengal MSOs for violating new regulatory framework

MUMBAI: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has directed five West Bengal based multi system operators (MSOs) to resolve issues being faced by their customers and submit a compliance report in five days.

The regulator has issued directions to Multi Reach Media, Digicablecomm Services, GTPL Kolkata Cable & Broadband Pariseva, Barasat Cable TV Network, and Bhorer Alo Cable & Broadband to comply with the new regulatory framework.

The TRAI stated that it has observed several issues on receipt of compliance report from the authorised representatives of the five MSOs during the meetings at its regional office in Kolkata and inspection of their websites.

In the case of Multi Reach Media, the authority observed that the MSO is not offering subscriber corner facility in their website. The call centre of the DPO does not support IVRS. The MSO is not publishing STB schemes on its website. Furthermore, the customer care programming service is yet to be offered. The MSO is forcefully offering a bouquet of free-to-air (FTA) channels with no choice to subscribers.

In case of Digicablecomm Services, the authority observed that the MSO is not offering Subscriber Corner facility on their website. The call centre does not support IVRS. Customer care programming service is yet to be offered. Subscribers are not able to choose any channel of their choice in BST

Regarding GTPL Kolkata Cable & Broadband Pariseva, the TRAI observed that the MSO is not offering subscriber corner facility on their website and the call centre does not support IVRS. Additionally, it is not publishing STB schemes on its website.

Barasat Cable TV Network, the authority observed, is not offering consumer corner & subscriber corner facility on their website. The toll free customer care number is not responding. The call centre does not support IVRS and customer care programming service is yet to be offered by the MSO.

Bhorer Alo Cable & Broadband is not offering subscriber corner facility in their website, the authority stated. Further, the call centre of the MSO does not support IVRS and it is not publishing STB schemes on its website.
