‘The Drama Company’ temporarily replaces ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’
MUMBAI: Hindi GEC Sony Entertainment Television’s (SET) recently launched comedy series ‘The Drama Company’ has temporarily replaced the channel’s popular show ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ (TKKS).
‘The Drama Company’ is now airing at 9 pm, as Kapil Sharma is not keeping well for the past few days.
Confirming the news, a channel spokesperson added that TKKS is not going off air. “Kapil has been under the weather for some time now. We have mutually agreed to take a short break. So, till he recovers, ‘The Drama Company’ will be aired in the 9-pm slot. Once Kapil recovers completely, we will resume the shooting of ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’,” the spokesperson stated.
For the past few weeks, Sharma has been suffering from blood pressure issues and stress, which is affecting his work. Shoots with celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn, among others, were cancelled at the last minute due to his ill-health. The actor-comedian is also working on his upcoming movie ‘Firangi’, and balancing movie and television is said to have taken its toll on his health.
‘The Drama Company’, produced by Lil Frodo and Frame Productions, features Bollywood veteran Mithun Chakraborty in the role of Shambhu Dada. The actor is accompanied by popular comedians like Ali Asgar, Sanket Bhosale, Sugandha Mishra, Krushna Abhishek, Sudesh Lehri, Ridhima Pandit, Tanaji and Aru Verma.
SET has made some abrupt changes to its programming line-up, as two of its slots got vacant due to unforeseen reasons. While ‘The Drama Company’ is filing the 9-pm slot on weekends, the channel will do a re-run of TKKS old episodes at 8 pm.
The weekday 10.30-pm slot, which is now vacant due to ‘Pehredar Piya Ki’ going off air, will be filled by the new show ‘Yeh Un Dino Ki Baat Hai’. The new show is said to go on air on 5 September. It is a teenage love story set in the ’90s era. The show was initially being planned to go on air in November.
Meanwhile, SET’s popular dance property ‘Super Dance Chapter 2’ will be aired from 30 September, at 8 pm, every weekend.
