Teleone Consumers to invest Rs 15 cr in its FTA Punjabi movie/music channel
MUMBAI: Teleone Consumers Product has lined up an investment of Rs 15 crore in its free to air (FTA) Punjabi movie and music channel T TV – Taur Punjab Di.
The company, which also owns and operates an FTA Hindi movie channel Maha Movie, has already invested Rs 7-8 crore in the channel, which launched on 1st March.
The channel is currently available on direct to home (DTH) platforms DD Free Dish and Dish TV. It is also in talks with multi system operator (MSO) Fastway Transmissions for carrying the channel.
T TV has a movie library of 50-60 while its music library comprises of 5,000-6,000 songs. The company’s aim is to acquire 200-250 movies.
“We plan to invest Rs 15 crore in the new channel out of which we have already invested Rs 7 to 8 crore,” Maha Movie CEO Sanjay Verma told TelevisionPost.com.
Verma also informed that the channel focuses only on Punjabi songs and movies. It plays music throughout the day and telecasts movie twice a day at 12 noon and 7 pm.
“We have acquired 5000 to 6000 songs. We have around 50 to 60 movies in our library. We are aiming to acquire 200 to 250 movies this year,” he stated.
Besides Maha Movie, Teleone Consumers had also launched an FTA kids channel Maha Cartoon TV, which was shut down last year due to high carriage on DD Free Dish.
