Tata Sky, DEN most attractive DTH, cable brands: TRA Research

MUMBAI: Direct to home (DTH) operator Tata Sky and multi system operator (MSO) DEN Networks have topped the list of ‘Most Attractive Brands 2017’ in the DTH and cable segment respectively. NDTV has emerged as the most attractive brand in the media TV category.

‘Most Attractive Brands’ is an annual study conducted by Trust Research Advisory (TRA) Research based on a primary research conducted across 16 Indian cities among 2,456 consumers.

The study generated nearly 5 million data points and 5,000 unique brands mentions of which 1000 brands are listed in the list. The research is based on TRA’s proprietary 36-attribute Attractiveness Matrix.

Videocon d2h and Reliance Digital TV are the new entrants to the DTH list at the second and fourth positions respectively. Dish TV, which is at number 3, has fallen 194 ranks to 468th position in the overall ranking.

Hathway, which was the most attractive brand in the cable segment, is at the second position after DEN, which has entered the list for the first time.

In the media TV category, Aaj Tak is at the second position followed by Sony Entertainment Television (SET) at the third position.

The new entrants to the 2017 list are SET, Republic TV, Maa TV, ETV, Ten Sports, Surya TV, Sun TV, V6, NGC, Sonic, Adithya TV, Star Sports, Taaza News, TLC, Times Now and ABP News.

In channel cluster, NDTV, TV9, Zee and ETV are the top 4 brands. TLC is the only lifestyle channel in the list. English news is led by Republic TV followed by Times Now.

Among Hindi GECs, SET, Zee TV, Star Plus, Life OK and Colors are the top brands in that order. Star Gold is the only brand in the Hindi movie category. BBC leads the international news category.

Disney is the top brands in kids TV category followed by Sonic. Ten Sports is the top sports TV brand followed by Star Sports. MTV and Surya TV lead the music and Malayalam GEC categories. Sun TV and Maa TV are the top brands in Tamil and Telugu GEC respectively.

In the Media-Print segment, Times Of India topped the list followed Hindustan Times and Dainik Jagran on second and third, respectively. The Economic Times was the top financial newspaper brand while The Times of India was the top English daily brand. Outlook led at the magazine category.

Hindustan led the Hindi newspaper category. Lokmat, Bartaman, and Sakshi were the top Marathi, Bengali, and Telugu newspaper brands.

In the radio segment, Radio One topped the list of most attractive brand followed by Red FM.

Entertainment segment was ruled by PVR Cinemas followed by INOX, Paramount, Cinemax, and T-Series.

PVR, Inox.and Cinemax were the top 3 cinema display brands. T-Series was the number cinema diversified brand. Paramount was the top international film studio brand.
