Sun TV Network Q3 net profit up 32% at Rs 351.3 cr

MUMBAI: TV broadcaster Sun TV Network’s net profit for the quarter ended 31st December has jumped 32% to Rs. 351.33 crore compared to Rs. 266.97 crore. Profit before tax (PBT) was up 33% at Rs. 542 crore as against Rs 406.63 crore.

The revenue was up by 32% at Rs. 904.45 crore as against Rs. 683.28 crore in the previous fiscal. The total income for the quarter was higher by 34% at Rs. 956.04 crore as against Rs. 712.39 crore. Total expenses jumped 35.43% to Rs 414.04 crore from Rs 305.7 crore due to the launch of Sun Bangla.

The subscription revenue for the quarter was up by 24% at Rs. 349.60 crore as against Rs. 281.82 crore. Ad revenue was up 13% at Rs 381.4 crore compared to Rs 338 crore in Q3 FY18.

After accounting for the other comprehensive income (net of taxes), the total comprehensive income was up 32% at Rs. 351.39 crore as against Rs. 267.03 crore.

The Earnings Per Share (EPS) for the current quarter grew by 32% at Rs. 8.92 as against Rs. 6.77. At the Board Meeting held today, the Board of Directors have declared an interim dividend of Rs. 2.50 per share (50%) on a face value of Rs. 5 per share.

Sun TV Network is one of the largest TV broadcasters in India which operates TV channels across four languages of Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam, airs FM radio stations across India and owns the Sun Risers Hyderabad franchise of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Recently, the broadcaster had ventured into the Bengali TV market with the launch of Sun Bangla.
