Star World to air 71st Primetime Emmy Awards on 23 Sep

MUMBAI: English GEC Star World will air the Primetime Emmy 2019 live on 23rd September at 5:30 am with a repeat at 10:30 pm. The show will honour the best that American television has to offer. Following this year’s host-free Academy Awards, the Emmys have also opted out of having a host this year.

The show is known as the ‘Oscars’ of television. The Emmys are the most coveted and recognized award ceremony of Hollywood’s television industry. ‘Game of Thrones’ has already broken the record for most nods in a single year with a whopping 32 nominations this year and has now got the last chance to scoop its third Emmy for best drama.

Star World added that the TV Academy has thrown in some welcome curveballs, showing love for ‘Schitt’s Creek’, ‘Fleabag’, ‘The Good Place’, ‘Barry’ and ‘Russian Doll’ in the comedy space. But the biggest highlight remains Julia Louis-Dreyfus of ‘Veep’, known as the Emmy favorite with six straight Emmy wins for Outstanding Lead Actress in Comedy Series. A win this year for Julia means that the actress will secure the coveted title of Emmys’ most-awarded performer of all time and that too with seven consecutive wins.
