Star Plus to host world television premiere of Sanju on 14 Oct

MUMBAI: Hindi GEC Star Plus will host the world television premiere of Sanjay Dutt’s biopic ‘Sanju’ on 14 October at 1 pm. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani and written by Hirani and Abhijat Joshi, the film star Ranbir Kapoor who received several accolades for his portrayal of Sanjay Dutt.

‘Sanju’ became the highest weekend grosser of 2018 which collected Rs 120.06 crore at the Indian box office over the first weekend. ‘Sanju’ became the seventh film in 2018 to enter the Rs 100 crore club after ‘Padmaavat’, ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’, ‘Raid’, ‘Baaghi 2’, ‘Raazi’ and ‘Race 3’.

The biographical film follows the life of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, his addiction with drugs, arrest for alleged association with the 1993 Bombay bombings, relationship with his father, comeback in the industry, the eventual drop of charges from Bombay blasts, and release after completing his jail term.

The film was jointly produced by Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra under the banners Rajkumar Hirani Films and Vinod Chopra Films, respectively. The film also starred an ensemble cast of Paresh Rawal as Sunil Dutt, Manisha Koirala as Nargis, Dia Mirza as Manyata Dutt, Vicky Kaushal, Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, and Jim Sarbh.
