Star Plus’ ‘Naamkarann’ completes 400 episodes, set to take the third leap
MUMBAI: Star Plus’ romantic drama ‘Naamkarann’ has completed 400 episodes. The show marked the debut of ace film director Mahesh Bhatt.
The show will take a leap of 10 years where the protagonist will be seen in a brand new look and character. This will be the third leap for the show.
Many new faces such as Zaan Khan, Soni Singh, Mrunmayee Lagoo, Sana Sheikh among others will be seen playing supporting roles in this love saga of Avni played by Aditi Rathore.
Naamkaran initially started off as the painful story of 10-year-old Avni Ayesha, who is an illegitimate child. She lives with her mother Ayesha Haider, maternal grandmother Nanno and is denied her father’s last name. Her father is the famous film director Ashish Mehta who lives separately from them and meets them in secretly. Avni desires her family to be like a “normal” one and she confronts her father about this.
The story was initially said to be based on Bhatt’s popular film Zakhm, however, the show went through 15-year leap featuring a grown-up Avni. Now, in the third leap, the story will revolve around bringing together Neil Khanna (played by Zain Imam) back into Avni’s life who has taken a fake identity of Nilanjana, a docile and fearful caretaker.
Cherishing the journey, Rathore said, “I am really excited about the way viewers and friends are appreciating the track. We are 400 episodes down and many more to come. We want our fans to love us more and more each day.”
Zain commented, “It is really overwhelming to be a part of such a successful show. We are moving towards an interesting phase in the story and I look forward to the continued support of the audience.”
