Star India ad sales head Amit Chopra quits
MUMBAI: Star India president & head – ad sales Amit Chopra has quit the company. As the head of ad sales, Chopra’s responsibility included generating ad revenues for entertainment, digital, and sports.
Both Star India and Amit Chopra refused to comment on the development.
Amit joined Star in 2013 to lead sales. A year later, he took on the role of Revenue Head, managing profits for distribution and ad sales. Post that, he was CEO of Entertainment at Star, overseeing the business delivery of Star’s entertainment channels – drama and movie channels in Hindi, English, Bengali, and Marathi.
In his prior role, Amit was instrumental in shaping the vision for ‘Hindustan’ – the third largest newspaper in India as the CEO of Hindustan Media Ventures. Under his leadership, ‘Hindustan’ earned its reputation of neutrality and progressiveness while being a profitable publication.
Amit studied engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and holds an MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. Post his MBA, Amit spent more than a decade at Hindustan Unilever Limited across marketing and sales.
