Star closes 12 sponsorship deals for ICC Cricket World Cup 2019
MUMBAI: Broadcaster Star India has roped 12 sponsors for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 almost two months before the tournament begins.
The co-presenting sponsors are PhonePe and Havells while the associate sponsors include Byju’s, MRF, policybazaar.com, paisabazaar.com, Amazon, Royal Stag, and Dream11.
The broadcaster has got three sponsors for its pre and post-match show Cricket Live. These include Philips as title sponsor, Livgurad as co-presenting sponsor, and Sterling Reserve as associate sponsor.
The ICC Cricket World Cup will held from 30th May to 14th July in England and Wales. The tournament will see 10 teams lock-horn with each other in round robin format. This format is being used after a gap of 27 years.
Star India has issued a full-page in a leading English daily promoting the event. The broadcaster has stated that the tournament will have 50% more India matches as compared to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 which was played in a group stage format.
Team India will at least play nine matches in the tournament. The broadcaster also noted that all the matches are in the prime-time. India is 4 hours and 30 minutes ahead of England.
The matches will be telecast across Star Sports network and over the top (OTT) platform Hotstar. The network comprises of on Star Sports 1 SD/HD, Star Sports 2 SD/HD, Star Sports 3, Star Sports 1 Hindi SD/HD, Star Sports Select 1 SD/HD, Star Sports Select 2 SD/HD, Star Sports 1 Tamil, Star Sports 1 Telugu, Star Sports 1 Kannada, Star Sports 1 Bangla, and Star Sports First.
The broadcaster is also planning to launch Star Sports 1 Marathi ahead of the event. It has already got the clearance from the ministry of information and broadcasting (MIB). Also on the anvil is Star Sports 1 Malayalam.
