SPNI’s English cluster gears up for festive season

MUMBAI: With 2018 coming to an end, Sony Pictures Networks India’s (SPNI) English cluster is doing a variety of initiatives.

In celebration of completing 20 years of airing in the country, AXN has a programming line-up. The initiative ‘20 days of Marathon’ starts on 8 January 2019 at 9 am, Monday to Sunday.

The shows will include titles like ‘Sherlock’, ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’, ‘Fear Factor’, ‘Billions’, ‘The Voice’, ‘Hannibal’. Meanwhile with the festive fever of Christmas and New Year AXN will have a 10 day Christmas and New Year festival line-up starting from Sunday 23 December 2018 noon till 7 pm every day.

With this the broadcaster has a New AXN Premiere Club introducing shows with their latest seasons like the 14th season of ‘Supernatural’, a new season of ‘Vikings’ and the fifth season of ‘Madam Secretary’.

Meanwhile, the English movie channel Sony Pix is currently doing an 18-day movie festival celebrating Christmas and leading up to the New Year (2018 Premiere’s Rewind). The movie festival is running till 1 January 2019. Every night a movie airs at 9 pm like ‘Resident Evil: The Final Chapter’, ‘The Mummy Returns’, ‘Jurassic Park’ and ‘King Kong’.

There will also be two Pixathons’s. On Christmas Day (25 December) back to back movies will air all day such as: ‘The Legend of Tarzan’, ‘Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice’, ‘Suicide Squad’ and ‘Jack the Giant Slayer’. On New Year (1 January) movies like ‘Despicable Me 3’, ‘Get Out’, ‘The Great Wall’ and ‘Victoria And Abdul’ will air.

In terms of premieres the broadcaster has lined up ‘The Mummy’ on 22 December, ‘Lady Bird’ on 6 January 2019 and ‘American Made’ on 26 January 2019.

Meanwhile, infotainment broadcaster Sony BBC Earth has its mega series ‘Dynasties’ coming up featuring the voiceover of Sir David Attenborough focusing on some of the world’s most endangered animals and the dramatic story of their struggles, rivalries and the survival to protect their territories and family. Along with this, the broadcaster has lined up a consumer preference programming line-up with Best of Earth 2018.
