SPN cuts off its satellite feed to Odisha’s MSO Ortel Communications
MUMBAI: As the Fifa 2018 World Cup fever is soaring high, Sony Pictures Network is taking some strict action against the payment defaulters.
After blocking its feed from Kolkatta’s Manthan, SPN has now cut off its satellite feed to Odisha based multi system operator (MSO) Ortel Communications over the unpaid dues.
The source close to channel confirmed the news stating that they have disconnected the satellite feed of all Sony’s channel on Ortel following the long outstanding dues.
In the quarter which ended on March 31st , Ortel Communications’ net loss had widened to Rs 80.1 crore as against to Rs 6.56 crore in the trailing quarter. The cable TV segment turned in an operating loss of Rs 15.5 crore compared to a profit of Rs 61.4 crore whereas revenue fell to Rs 145.4 crore from Rs 153.1 crore.
This decision had a severe impact on Ortel subscribers as they witnessed channel blackouts during the high profile matchs of Fifa. We tried reaching to Ortel officials but they remain unavailable for comment.
