Shemaroo Q3 net up 27% to Rs 18 cr; inks content deals with Vuclip, Spuul

MUMBAI: Shemaroo Entertainment’s net profit for the quarter ended 31 December has jumped 27% to Rs 18 crore compared to Rs 14.2 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. EBITDA was up 12.5% to Rs 36 crore from Rs 32 crore.

PAT margin improved 90 BPS to 13.4% from 12.5% while the EBITDA margin was down 67 BPS to 27.11% compared to 27.78%.

Revenue from operations jumped 17% to Rs 132.6 crore from Rs 113.5 crore. Expenses rose 16.3% to Rs 96.8 crore from Rs 83.2 crore.

Revenue from digital was up 40.8% to Rs 33.1 crore while the traditional media revenue increased 10.6% to Rs 99.5 crore.

During the quarter, the company signed a content deal with Vuclip and Spuul. It also launched ‘Marathi Cinema’ service in partnership with Tata Sky on 14th December.

The company’s YouTube channel ‘FilmiGaane’ crossed 3 billion cumulative views. YouTube channel ‘ShemarooEnt’ crossed 5 million subscribers during the quarter.

Shemaroo noted that some brands have pulled their advertising out from YouTube since some of their ads were shown next to hateful and offensive content. As a result, YouTube has implemented stricter brand safety guidelines and therefore the overall monetisation of content on YouTube has been impacted.
