SET to launch two new fiction shows in Oct

MUMBAI: Hindi GEC Sony Entertainment Television (SET) will replace Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) season 9 with two 30 minute fiction shows, supernatural thriller love story ‘Ek Diwana Tha’ and a thriller romantic drama ‘Haasil’.

‘Ek Diwana Tha’ will premiere on 23 October and will air at 10 pm while ‘Haasil’ will launch on 30 October and will occupy the 9.30 pm slot. The 9 pm slot will be vacant post KBC. KBC airs Monday-Friday from 9-10.30 pm.

Produced by Prateek Sharma under the banner of LSD Films, Ek Diwana Tha features Namik Paul, Donal Bisht and Vikram Singh Chauhan in the lead. The show also features Amar Upadyay, Sachin Parikh, Jaswinder Gardner and Mamta Verma playing important roles.

Set in a hill station, it is story of Sharanya who is in love with Vyom. However, Paul who plays a character of ghost doesn’t approve of the relationship and tries to break them apart. It is love story clubbed with supernatural element.

On the other hand, Haasil produced by Siddharth P Malhotra under the banner Alchemy Production is high in production value. The show marks the debut of Bollywood actor Zayed Khan and also features Vatsal Seth and Nikita Dutta in the lead roles.

Khan and Seth will play on-screen brothers’ Ranveer Raichand and Kabir Raichand who are well-known wealth business tycoon. Dutta portrays a role of lawyer Aanchal who is trying to bring justice to wrong doings of Raichand’s in the show.

The creative team has invested heavily as they show has shot in varied national and international locations. They have also hired two hired two helicopters and around five to six sports car to highlight Raichand’s wealth and high profile standards.

The 8.30 pm slot will also fall vacant as Beyhadh, which airs in that time slot, will go off-air from 7 November.

Meanwhile, SET has lined-up three new shows for 2017-end. It includes Swastik Production’s Porus, Writers Galaxy Studio’s Prithvi Vallabh and Shashi Sumeet Productions’ Ristha Likhenge Hum Naya.

‘Rishtey Likhenge Hum Naya’ is a story of unique relationship which is based on a simple promise made to a dying man. Set in the royal canvas of Rajasthan, it is a finite story which will challenge the conventional perception of man being the protector of a woman and turn this stereotypical thought on its head. It features Tejaswi Prakash, who will play the role of Diya, Rohit Suchanti, who will essay the role of Ratan.

With ‘Prithvi Vallabh,’ the channel will launch its new sub-brand SET Originals. Prithvi Vallabh is a 40-episode finite series that will have a runtime of one hour.

The story revolves around two kings, Prithvi Vallabh and Tailap, of neighbouring kingdoms. Prithvi Vallabh of Avantipur is a kind and just king, whereas Tailap is his opposite. Tailap, with the help of his sister Mrinalvati, and another neighbouring king Bhillam, manages to capture Prithvi Vallabh. The show will dramatise his battle to free himself and his country.

‘Porus’ is yet another historical show that will be launched towards the end of the year. It is the first Greek historical show to air on a Hindi GEC. The show revolves around King Porus, who fought against Alexander the Great in the battle of the Hydaspes and was the biggest obstacle to Alexander’s ambition to conquer the Indian subcontinent.
