SET, Ekta Kapoor team up after over two years for a daily soap-opera
MUMBAI: Hindi GEC Sony Entertainment Television (SET) and ace TV producer Ekta Kapoor are teaming up after a gap of more than two years for a drama show based on Karan Johar’s family drama ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’.
According to the media reports, the show is titled ‘Dil Hi Toh Hai’ and is expected to go on air in the next two months. The look test for the characters is in the process and the casting will be finalised soon.
Kapoor took to social networking platform Twitter to reveal her new project. She tweeted, “The director-producer had taken to Twitter over a week back to announce that she is working on a family soap after years. “A family soap after years !!! Mostly done love stories recently with d backdrop of family!! This soap will air on SONY …a family that eats together stays together NOOOO a family that accepts each other stays together.”
Directed by Karan Johar and produced by Yash Johar, the film focused on family and featured a tagline “It’s All About Loving Your Parents”.
SET and Kapoor has last teamed up in 2015 for romantic drama ‘Pyaar Ko Ho Jaane Do’ which also marked the comeback of Iqbal Khan and Mona Singh as protagonists on television.
Kapoor had also produced SET’s ‘Bade Achche Lagte Hai’ featuring popular TV couple Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar. The show went on to become a TRP chartbuster.
