Prasar Bharati puts DD Free Dish MPEG-2 slot e-auction in abeyance
MUMBAI: Public broadcaster Prasar Bharati has put the MPEG-2 slot e-auction of DD Free Dish in abeyance in view of several precautionary measures to contain the spread of COVID-19. The pubcaster had invited applications for private satellite TV channels to fill up vacant MPEG-2 slots of DD Free Dish DTH Platform for the period from 01.04.2020 to 31.03.2021.
“Keeping in view several precautionary measures to contain the spread of COVID-19, it is hereby informed that the receipt of applications from TV channels and allocation process will remain in abeyance till further intimation,” Prasar Bharati Director-DTH Inderjeet Grewal said in a notice.
The last date for submission of applications was 30th March latest by 3 pm.
Recently, Prasar Bharati had mopped up a whopping Rs 594.25 crore from the sale of DD Free Dish MPEG-2 slots to 53 channels during the 44th e-auction that was completed on 28th February.
