Prasar Bharati asks private DTH, cable operators to unblock DD Sports
MUMBAI: Public broadcaster Prasar Bharati has urged private direct to home (DTH) and multi system operators (MSOs) to unblock the live-stream of DD Sports.
Several complaints have been made by the viewers on Twitter that they are unable to watch the matches since their operators have blocked the channel.
Prasar Bharati tweeted, “Advisory! Do Not Block DD Sports. @TataSky, @HathwayBrdband, @officiald2h, @SUNDIRECTIndia, @DishTV_India, @airtelindia.”
Prasar Bharati CEO Shashi Sekhar Vempati tweeted, “No private DTH or Cable Operator shall block lock @ddsportschannel. Please share screenshots of anyone doing so.”
Last month the public broadcaster had announced that it will have dual streams for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 to ensure that there is no blank screen on DD Sports channel on private DTH and cable MSO platforms during the live telecast of cricket matches.
The first stream will telecast the matches live and will be available only DD Free Dish and DD’s Terrestrial Network.
In earlier tweet Vempeti wrote, “With this dual stream, an instruction will be issued to all private DTH and cable MSO platforms to not blank out @ddsportschannel on days when live matches are telecast under the mandatory sharing of sports signals act.”
