Prasar Bharati allots DD Free Dish slots to three channels for Rs 21.69 cr

MUMBAI: Prasar Bharati has allotted slots to three channels on pro-rata basis in the 41st e-auction for vacant slots on free direct to home (DTH) platform DD Free Dish. The public broadcaster has mopped up Rs 21.69 crore in the latest round of e-auction.

The three channels are Hindi GEC Manoranjan Grand and Hindi movie channels Zingaat and Skystar Telugu Movie. Being part of the A+ bucket, Manoranjan Grand has paid Rs 8.17 crore while Zingaat and Skystar Telugu Movie have forked out Rs 6.76 crore, which is the price for the A bucket.

As reported earlier, Creative Channel Advertising and Marketing (Manoranjan Group) is venturing into the Hindi general entertainment space with the launch of Manoranjan Grand.

The free to air (FTA) Hindi GEC will launch on 15th August. The test signal of the channel is already on.

The channels have been allotted MPEG-2 slots for the period from 16th August 2019 to 29th February 2020.

The e-auction took place on 8th August and the last date for submission of applications was on 7th August latest by 3 pm.
