PB to conduct e-auction for DD Free Dish MPEG-4 slots from 27 March
MUMBAI: After concluding the e-auction for MPEG-2 slots, public broadcaster Doordarshan will conduct 39th online e-auction for filling up vacant MPEG-4 slots of DD Free Dish DTH Platform from 27th March 2019.
Bidding in the e-auction of vacant unreserved MPEG-4 slots will be for an initial period open to all genre (language) channels at an invitation reserve price of Rs 5 lakh.
Only companies holding valid permission from ministry of information & broadcasting (MIB) or their authorised distributor partners can apply for allocation of DD Free Dish slot.
If bidder company is other than channel license holder, the letter/agreement signed between licence holder company and distributor company authorising the bidder for distribution of the channel and bidding on behalf of the channel must be submitted.
International public broadcasters licenced/registered by the MIB can also participate in e-auction for MPEG-4.
“The reserve price for these MPEG-4 slots is at a low invitational amount of merely Rs 5 lakh. We request all those channels that could not bid for MPEG-2 slots for various reasons to consider bidding for the MPEG-4 slots,” Prasar Bharati CEO Shashi Vempati posted on his Twitter account.
Recently, Prasar Bharati had mopped up Rs 394.49 crore from the sale of 40 MPEG-2 slots during the 38th e-auction of DD Free Dish slots under the new policy regime. This is a 30% jump from what Prasar Bharati earned from the sale of DD Free Dish slots under the previous regime.
