OTT infotainment platform WOWS raises funding from RazorPod, other angel investors

MUMBAI: OTT infotainment platform World of Web Series (WOWS) has raised an investment from RazorPod and few other angel investors.

The platform intends to utilising the fresh capital infused by RazorPod and other Angel Investors to increase its catalyst network across the world and improving their user’s viewing experience. The funding received is earmarked by WOWS to bolster the base of the platform and to help it in the further development and sustenance of the platform.

The platform promises to give its users a whole new experience, the platform is created to help its users discover and explore the huge range of content available online on different OTT platforms including Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hotstar, Voot, Alt Balaji, TVF Play, SonyLiv to name a few.

Over-The-Top aka OTT platforms have seen a tremendous glut in the last few years and today, there are more than 40 OTT players in India market and 10,000 plus web series available online. All thanks to high-speed connectivity and falling data prices along with the newly developed interest of watching content on Mobile phones at leisure.

Artificial Intelligence has already transformed the Media and Entertainment industry both in terms of the content and consumer experience. While Industry is all set to explode with more variety of content and genres, the traditional recommendation engines are still focusing on providing suggestions based on Watch History which eventually restricts the horizon of users and thus restricts their selection. Today, with technology, we have many data-points about users are available which can help in facilitating better recommendations.

Currently, the user who is binging over online content is either relying on its social feeds (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) recommendations or suggestions from their peer-groups. This is when WOWS wanting to help users in watching “What they could” instead of “What they should”.
