Nine IPL matches garner 211.5 mn impressions in week 2: BARC

MUMBAI: The nine matches in second week of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 have garnered 211.5 million impressions on Star India network and DD Sports compared to 199.6 million impressions in IPL 10 on Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) for equal number of games, as per BARC India data for All India market 2+ TG.

As reported earlier, the first eight matches of IPL 2018 on Star India network and DD Sports garnered 213.9 million impressions on All India 2+ compared to 197.8 million impressions in IPL 10 when the event was telecast on Sony Pictures Networks India. This is an 8.13% growth over the previous year.

The IPL 2018 is being aired on Star Sports 1 (SD+HD), Star Sports 1 Hindi (SD+HD), Star Sports 1 Tamil, Star Sports Select 1 (SD+ HD), Star Suvarna Plus, Star Maa Movies, Star Jalsha, and DD Sports. IPL 10 was aired on Sony Max, Sony Six (SD+HD), Sony ESPN (SD+HD).

Meanwhile, Star India has claimed that the IPL 2018 has reached 423 million fans in the first two weeks across Star TV network (in home and out of home) and Hotstar.

In fact, viewership on Hotstar has set new global records for live sports peak concurrency touching 7 million in the RCB vs CSK game on 25 April beating the previous record at 6 million peak concurrency achieved on the MI vs RCB game on 17 April.

It also claimed that the regional language feeds across four markets have received a tremendous response with the three southern markets of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh/ Telangana along with West Bengal witnessing a viewership growth of 39% on Total Viewership across screens.
