Nidahas Trophy propels Rishtey Cineplex to no. 1 position in week 10

MUMBAI: Rishtey Cineplex has become the number 1 Hindi movie channel in urban + rural HSM on the back of Nidahas Trophy 2018 airing, as per BARC India data for week 10.

Rishtey Cineplex had partnered Discovery Communications’ DSport to air the Nidahas Trophy in Hindi. The tri-nation tournament featuring Sri Lanka, India, and Bangladesh comprising 7 T20 internationals kicked off on 6 March with the finale on 18 March. This is the first time Rishtey Cineplex is broadcasting a cricket tournament.

From being the number 4 channel with 39.9 crore impressions in week 9, the Viacom18-owned Hindi movie channel has jumped to number 1 position with 54.5 crore impressions. Sony Max, Sony Wah, and Star Utsav Movies dropped by a rank while Zee Anmol Cinema replaced Zee Cinema at number 5.

The India vs Bangladesh match was the most watched programme in the genre with 1 crore impressions followed by India vs Sri Lanka match with 87.2 lakh impressions. Star Gold, Sony Wah, and Rishtey Cineplex had one movie each in the top 5.

In rural HSM, Rishtey Cineplex has replaced Sony Wah as the number 1 channel. Rishtey Cineplex’s impressions has jumped to 36.9 crore from 26.6 crore. Sony Wah has dropped to the second spot pushing Star Utsav Movies to the fourth position. Zee Anmol Cinema has moved to the third spot.

The India vs Bangladesh and India vs Sri Lanka were the top programmes in rural HSM. Rishtey Cineplex had one movie in top 5 while Sony Wah had two.

Rishtey Cineplex entered the top 5 in urban HSM. It replaced Sony Max 2 at the number 4 position. Movies OK replaced Sony Wah at the number 5 position. The top 3 positions remained unchanged.

‘Golmaal Again’ topped the chart in urban HSM followed by India vs Bangladesh match. Sony Max had two movies in the top 5 while Star Gold and Zee Cinema had one each.
