NBCUniversal Media appoints Sangeetha Aiyer as marketing head for India
MUMBAI: Media veteran Sangeetha Aiyer has joined NBCUniversal Media as head of marketing for India. She joined the company earlier this month.
NBCUniversal is a subsidiary of Comcast Corporation. It is one of the world’s leading media and entertainment companies in the development, production, and marketing of entertainment, news and information to a global audience.
It owns and operates a portfolio of news and entertainment television networks, a premier motion picture company, significant television production operations, a leading television stations group, world-renowned theme parks and a suite of Internet-based businesses.
In India, NBCUniversal directly markets and distributes movies through its local offices, creating campaigns and release strategies that respond to the culture and market behavior of those territories. The movie distribution is done through Universal Pictures International (UPI).
Recently, video streaming platform Hungama Play had partnered with NBCUniversal to release a slew of critically acclaimed and blockbuster hit movies from the studio. Additionally, NBCUniversal’s consumer products division has a licensing and merchandising deal with Mumbai-based Black White Orange Brands.
In November 2019, Aiyer had quit Network18 Group after almost a decade. Prior to her exit from the company, she was elevated as head marketing and digital business of Network18 which included brands like FirstPost, MoneyControl, CNBCTV18.com, News18 English and News18 Vernacular.
Aiyer was earlier the head of marketing and digital at A+E Networks|TV18, the JV between A+E Networks and TV18. At AETN18, she played a significant role in spearheading the growth strategy for the JV, specifically the brand History TV18 and FYI TV18.
With a career spanning over 19 years, Sangeetha is an experienced marketer with comprehensive experience across industries including radio, retail, and advertising and has worked with esteemed organizations like Times Network, Reliance Media Network, Star Network, and Arvind Brands to name a few.
