MTV’s election campaign clocks 31 mn views on social media

MUMBAI: Youth GEC MTV’s election campaign ‘Vote Because You Can’ has clocked in 31 million views on social media.

Through videos, the election campaign aimed to instill pride for the power of democracy and urge young Indians to vote because they can. Steering away from the stereotypical portrayal of international youth in mainstream media, the channel delved deep into some of the world’s most disputed areas – Somalia, Iraq, Syria, Sudan and North Korea to drive the message home and convey the call for action – Not everyone around the World is empowered to vote. So, India must vote, because India can vote.

MTV said that it deployed the prowess of the Viacom18 network to make these stories travel. The campaign reached out to MTV India’s 15+ million strong social media fandom. Beyond the main films, the authenticity and depth of the campaign unravelled over the last month across social media on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube with multiple behind-the-scene videos taking the fans deeper into each story.

As the election season comes to a close, the campaign has fetched outstanding results across social media. Below are the stats –
