MIB informs three MSOs about status of their applications in OHM
MUMBAI: The ministry of information and broadcasting (MIB) has informed three multi system operators (MSOs) about the status of their applications for MSO licence.
The ministry informed that 51st Open House Meeting for the month of August 2019 was held on 20th August with the representatives of the MSO applicants, in the chamber of DS DAS wherein us (DAS) and so (DAS) were also present.
Pawanpreet Singh, the representative of Skypro Communication, was told that the case will be processed for grant of MSO registration.
Prabh Dyal Singh, the representative of Jot Cable TV Network, was informed about the pendency of documents from his side. The applicant has now submitted the requisite documents by hand in the OHM. The ministry said that the case will be processed for grant of MSO registration.
Yogesh Khanna, the representative of Quick Vision, was informed that his application is under scrutiny in the DAS section and Security Clearance from the ministry of home affairs (MHA) is awaited.
The MIB had earlier disclosed that it has received 102 MSO applications which are pending for approval. Of the 102 pending applications, 28 applications were received in 2017 while the remaining 74 were received in 2018.
As on 31st October 2017, the ministry had granted regular registrations to 1469 MSOs to operate anywhere in India. Two MSOs, Arasu Cable TV Corporation, and Godfather Communication have been granted provisional registrations. The registration of 66 MSOs has been cancelled/closed.
