MIB grants 11 new MSO licences to take the total to 1616
MUMBAI: The ministry of information and broadcasting (MIB) has granted licences to 11 multi-system operators (MSOs) between 26th November to 31st December 2019.
Of the 11 companies that have received MSO licences, six are proprietorship firms, three are companies while two are partnership firms.
Eight of the 11 companies are from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, West Bengal, and Karnakata while the remaining three are from Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Haryana.
With these new licences, the total number of registered MSOs have increased to 1616.
The ministry granted a total of 150 MSO licences in 2019. In 2018, it had given just one licence to Sharma Cable Network. Between September 2017 to September 2018, the ministry didn’t grant any new licence.
From the Andhra Pradesh, Sri Laxmi Narasimha Swamy Communication and Shiva Sai Laxmi Communications have received the licences. Blue Star Cable Services and Gollaleshwar are from Karnataka.
Similarly, Array Access Digital Services and Realtouch Cable & Broadband are from West Bengal. From West Bengal, DVR Siti Digital and Feroz Digital Networks are the new licencees. M.D. Cable Network, Unify Netsol, and Shiv Cable Network are from Maharashtra, Gujarat and Haryana respectively.
