MIB directs TV channels to use new political map of India
MUMBAI: The ministry of information and broadcasting (MIB) has directed all private satellite TV channels to use the new political map of the country that has been released on 2nd November.
The new political map was released by the Survey of India following the creation of the new Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh on the 31st of October.
“Consequent upon the creation of the new Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh on 31st of October 2019, the new Political Map of the country has been released on 2nd November, 2019,” MIB said in its order.
“This Political map has been prepared by Survey of India, Department of Science & Technology, and is available online on their website for free download. All TV Channels are requested to use only the new Political map of India henceforth.”
On the recommendation of Parliament, the President effectively dismantled Article 370 of the Indian Constitution and gave assent to the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019.
The former state of Jammu & Kashmir has been reorganized as the new Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the new Union Territory of Ladakh on 31st October.
The new Union Territory of Ladakh consists of two districts of Kargil and Leh. The rest of the former State of Jammu and Kashmir is in the new Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
