MIB directs service providers to submit DoS clearance documents only through online portal

MUMBAI: The ministry of information & broadcasting (MIB) has directed the broadcasters and teleport operators to submit documents pertaining to department of space (DoS) clearance only through online mode on the Broadcast Seva portal.

“It has been decided by the Ministry of I & B that all the broadcasters and teleport operators are hereon required to furnish the documents required for DOS clearance online only, while applying to MIB for new channel/teleport, change of satellite/teleport, and dual illumination,” the MIB said in a notice.

“Accordingly, they are advised to upload all the requisite documents on the web portal www.broadcastseva.gov.in and not to submit the physical copies of the same to this Ministry.”

The Broadcast Seva portal provides a single point facility to the various stakeholders and applicants to make their applications for various permission, registrations, and licences. issued by MIB for broadcast-related activities. The website is an initiative by the government for ‘Ease of Doing Business’, ‘Digital India’ and ‘Make in India’.

The ministry had launched Broadcast Seva portal in May 2017. Earlier, it had switched to accepting applications for MSO registration and online applications for change of name/logo and foreign remittance proposals through Broadcast Seva portal only.
