MIB directs broadcasters to adhere to direction about online submission of applications, foreign remittance proposals

MUMBAI: The ministry of information and broadcasting (MIB) reiterated that the broadcasters should make online submission for change of name/logo and foreign remittance proposals.

The ministry had issued a notice on 3 January asking broadcasters to make online applications for change of name/logo and foreign remittance proposals through Broadcast Seva portal.

“Attention is invited to MIB’s Notice of even No. dated 03.01.2018 on the subject cited above. It has, however, been found that the instructions given in this notice dated 03.01.2018 are not being complied with by some of the broadcasters,” read the MIB notice.

“It is, therefore, reiterated that the instructions given in the notice regarding online submission of applications may be strictly adhered to. It is also requested that the details of annual permission fee remitted in Government account must also be simultaneously updated on web portal broadcastseva.gov.in.”

Among the applications that can be made on the portal include temporary uplinking, permission to set up a teleport, foreign remittance, and change of satellite, channel name/logo, the language of the channel, category of the channel, mode of transmission, teleport and teleport location.

The ministry had also informed that annual permission fee module is active and payment of annual permission fee should be made online only through web portal broadcastseva.gov.in.

The ministry had launched Broadcast Seva portal in May 2017. Earlier, it had switched to accepting applications for MSO registration only through Broadcast Seva portal.
