MIB appoints new DGs for DD News, DAVP

MUMBAI: The ministry of information and broadcasting (MIB) has appointed Ira Joshi as the director general of DD News. She replaces Veena Jain, who retired recently.

Earlier, Joshi was the director general of Press Information Bureau (PIB). DD News is currently producing news content in Hindi, English, Urdu and Sanskrit languages.

The ministry has also replaced Esther Kar with Ghanshyam Goel as the DG of Directorate of Audio Visual and Publicity (DAVP). Kar has been put on ‘Compulsory Wait’ with immediate effect and until final orders.

In May 2015, Jain was appointed as the Doordarshan News DG, he had retired in August this year and All India Radio’s News Services Division DG Sitanshu Kar was given the additional charge of the post.
