Hindi GECs gear up for festive season with new shows
MUMBAI: With festive season around the corner, Hindi GECs are wooing viewers with the launch of new shows in October.
The month began with the launch of Star Bharat’s new mythological show ‘Radha Krishn’ on 1 October followed by Sony Sab’s ‘Beechwale Bapu Dekh Raha Hai’ on 2 October.
Beginning 6 October, Star Plus will bring back its popular dance reality show ‘Dance Plus’. The fourth season will air in the 8 pm and will replace ongoing non-fiction series ‘Dil Hai Hindustani’.
Based on the concept of ‘Sapne Sirf Apne Nahin Hote!’, ‘Dance+’ Season 4 is said to be a platform to recognise the ‘Plus’ of the contestants lives, and convey their gratitude to them, through the language of dance.
The new season promises to elevate the level of dance performances and create a visual spectacle through style and technique. Remo will be joined by the three popular ‘captains’– the spirited Shakti Mohan, the proficient Dharmesh Yelande and the dashing Punit Pathak – on stage as a mentor. The show will be hosted by Raghav Juyal.
Star Plus is also releasing a new mytho series ‘Karn Sangini’ on 9 October in the 7 pm slot. The show will replace the ongoing quiz show ‘Sabse Smart Kaun’.
‘Karn Sangini’ is based on Kavita Kane’s novel Karna’s ‘Wife: The Outcast’s Queen’ and is created by Shashi Sumeet Productions. It features Tejasswi Prakash, Aashim Gulati and Kinshuk Vaidya in the lead role.
Zee TV will air the new season of its popular singing reality show ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ on 13 October, every Saturday-Sunday at 9 pm. The new season will be based on the sole thought of music being the greatest leveller and does not discriminate basis a person’s identity. Hosted by Aditya Narayan, the new season will be judged by Shekhar Ravjiani, Amal Malik and Sona Mohapatra.
ZEEL-owned second GEC &TV is bringing back Doordarshan’s popular series ‘Vikram Betaal Ki Rahasya Gaatha’ in a new avatar from 16 October, every Monday-Friday at 8 pm.
&TV will shift ‘Agnifera’, which airs in the 8 pm slot, to a new time slot which has not been decided. Produced by Peninsula Pictures, the show will star Aham Sharma as Vikram and seasoned actor Makrand Deshpande as Betaal. The series will also feature Zuber Khan, Pooja Bannerjee, Sooraj Thapar and others in the pivotal roles.
Colors is also bringing back the new season of talent hunt show ‘India’s Got Talent’ after a hiatus of two years. The eighth season will go on-air by mid-October, however, the time and date of the show are yet to be revealed. The show will once again be judged by Karan Johar, Kirron Kher and Malaika Arora Khan whereas Rithvik Dhanjani and Bharti Singh will host the new season.
Sony Entertainment Television (SET) is also gearing up to air new series ‘Patiala Babes’. Produced by Rajita Sharma, the show is about a widowed mother and her teenage daughter who lives in Punjab. The show revolves around mother-daughter relationship and how the daughter gives her mom confidence to move ahead in life. Paridhi Sharma plays the character of widowed mother and Ashnoor Kaur portrays the role of her teenage daughter. The time and date of the show is yet to be revealed.
