HBO ropes in three associate sponsors for ‘Ready Player One’

MUMBAI: English movie channel HBO has roped in three associate sponsors for ‘Ready Player One’ premiere. The three associate sponsors are Panasonic, Fitbit and Mahindra XUV 5OO. Directed by Steven Spielberg, the movie will premiere on 26th May at 1 pm and 9 pm.

Based on Ernest Cline’s eponymous 2011 novel, the movie explores a virtual universe called OASIS, created by billionaire Professor James Halliday. Living in the dystopian future of 2045, everyone logs in to the OASIS daily to escape their mundane reality. Upon his death, people receive a cryptic message from Halliday, calling for a worthy heir to solve a series of intricate puzzles, collect three keys, and claim both his vast fortune and ownership of the OASIS.

Eighteen-year-old Wade Watts enters with a mission to find an Easter egg hidden inside this massive game. Will Watts and his friends – collectively known as the High Five – win this reality-bending treasure hunt and save the OASIS? Will they survive, as the real and virtual worlds collide and head towards war?

The film, with its nostalgic 80s vibe, neon pop colours, and a futuristic tone, infuses life into a fantasy gaming world that makes a viewing experience like no other for fans. Much to the delight of ardent movie-buffs, Steven Spielberg weaves in interesting pop-cultural references about time travel and more. The film boasts of an epic soundtrack, created by Grammy award-winning composer Alan Silvestri, which also includes classic and iconic 80s tracks by artists like Bruce Springsteen, Tears for Fears, Bee Gees and more.
