Hathway Cable’s marketing head Akhil Rampal quits
MUMBAI: Hathway Cable & Datacom, India’s leading multi-system operator (MSO), is seeing a series of exits.
The latest to leave the organisation is Akhil Rampal. He served his last day at Hathway today as general manager of marketing and communications.
“Today was my last day at Hathway. I am joining a different sector early January,” Rampal confirmed.
Rampal follows the earlier exits of Jagdish Kumar, who served as the managing director and CEO, and Shirish Ruparel, among others. Earlier this year, Hathway had expanded the role of Ruparel as EVP of content and value-added services (VAS) to content, carriage, ad sales, over-the-top (OTT) service offerings and VAS.
During Rampal’s stint, Hathway started a consumer campaign with Sania Mirza as brand ambassador to push its broadband business. He was also involved in marketing Hathway’s high-definition (HD) offering and promoting the launch of four new Hathway channels in the music and movies genre—DJAY, Home Theatre, Lamhe and Marathi Talkies.
Prior to joining Hathway in February 2015, Rampal had worked with ESPN and Star India as senior manager of sports marketing. He spent seven years there and had earlier stints in several sectors.
After the exit of Kumar, Hathway announced Rajan Gupta as its new MD. He was serving as president of the MSO’s broadband business. TS Panesar was elevated to the position of CEO of Hathway’s video business. He was earlier president of the MSO’s video business.
Rajaraman S, who was SVP of business operations, was elevated to COO of video business. He had played an important role in streamlining the business operations of the company including Phase III expansion.
