Hathway becomes fourth largest wired broadband player in Jan

MUMBAI: Cable TV and broadband player Hathway Cable & Datacom has pipped MTNL to become the fourth largest wired broadband player in January 2019. The company has moved to fourth spot while MTNL has dropped to the fifth position.

Hathway added 10,000 subscribers to take its total base to 0.79 million. MTNL, on the other hand, lost 10,000 subscribers with its total base dropping to 0.77 million.

As on 31st January, 2019, the top five Wired Broadband Service providers were BSNL (9.17 million), Bharti Airtel (2.30 million), Atria Convergence Technologies (1.40 million), Hathway Cable & Datacom (0.79 million) and MTNL (0.77 million).

In December 2018, the two companies were neck and neck at 0.78 million. As on 31st December 2018, the top five Wired Broadband Service providers were BSNL (9.17 million), Bharti Airtel (2.27 million), Atria Convergence Technologies (1.39 million), MTNL (0.78 million) and Hathway Cable & Datacom (0.78 million).

The top five service providers constituted 98.63% market share of the total broadband subscribers at the end of January. These service providers were Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (289.44 million), Bharti Airtel (110.25 million), Vodafone Idea (109.86 million), BSNL (20.81 million) and Tata Tele Group (2.26 million).

The top five Wireless Broadband Service providers were Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (289.44 million), Vodafone Idea (109.84 million), Bharti Airtel (107.96 million), BSNL (11.64 million) and Tata Teleservices (1.79 million).
