Google’s YouTube Music, YouTube Premium debut in India

MUMBAI: The Indian video and music streaming markets have just got more competition with the entry of Google’s YouTube Music and YouTube Premium.

YouTube Music is the music streaming app which is available in free as well as subscription formats. YouTube Premium is an ad-free service which offers music as well as original video content.

YouTube Music provides official songs, albums, thousands of playlists and artist radio plus YouTube’s huge catalog of remixes, live performances, covers and music videos all simply organised and personalised.

YouTube Music is available for free with ads, but users can get YouTube Music Premium to play songs and videos in the background even when the phone is locked.

YouTube Music Premium also offers offline downloads and a completely ad-free experience starting at Rs. 99 per month or Rs. 149/month for family plan to share it with 5 more family members.

As a part of special introductory offer, it offers 3 months free YouTube Music Premium subscription. At the end of the trial period, users will be automatically charged the standard subscription price unless cancelled before the end of the trial. Google Play Music users will get YouTube Music Premium membership as part of their subscription each month.

Existing Google Play Music subscribers will get a YouTube Music Premium membership as part of the subscription each month.

To extend the features of YouTube Music Premium beyond the music app, Google has also introduced YouTube Premium, which includes ad-free, background and offline play across all of YouTube, as well as access to YouTube Originals including Cobra Kai, BTS: Burn The Stage. The service has been priced at Rs 129 for all new members.

YouTube Director of Product Management, Music Products T.
