General news channels register double digit growth in week 4

MUMBAI: The top 5 Hindi news channels have recorded 16.3% growth in impressions in week 4, as per BARC India data for urban + rural HSM. Top 4 English news channels registered 32% growth in weekly impressions.

In Hindi news genre, Aaj Tak’s impression jumped to 140.2 crore followed by Zee News (112.6 crore), India TV (93.85 crore), India TV (93.17 crore), and News18 India (91.5 crore). ABP News and News18 India swapped positions while the rest of the chart remained unchanged.

There was no change in the pecking order in urban while in rural HSM ABP News re-entered the top 5 at number 3 position as India TV exited. News Nation and News18 India dropped by a rank each.

In English news, Republic TV saw its impressions increase to 9.01 lakh followed by Times Now (8.53 lakh), India Today TV (3.57 lakh), and CNN-News18 (2.22 lakh). NDTV 24×7 was the only channel to see a drop in viewership.

In English business news, CNBC TV18 and ET Now saw a drop in impressions. BTVI’s impressions remained almost flat. CNBC TV18 Prime HD was the only channel to record growth in impressions.

In Hindi business news, CNBC Awaaz saw a dip in impressions while that of Zee Business saw an increase.
