Fifa WC 2018, ‘Baal Veer’, ‘Bigg Boss’, ‘Motu Patlu’ ranked high on Google Trends in 2018
MUMBAI: FIFA World Cup 2018, IPL 2018, Sony Sab’s ‘Baal Veer’, Colors’ ‘Bigg Boss’ and Cosmos-Maya’s IP ‘Motu Patlu’, which airs on Nickelodeon, were among the top most searched keywords in India for the year 2018 by Google Trends. ‘Motu Patlu’ is the only kids’ animation show to feature in the top 10 search trends.
The number one searched word in India was FIFA World Cup 2018 followed by Live score, IPL 2018, Baal Veer, Bigg Boss, Robot 2.0, Asia Cup 2018, ‘Motu Patlu’ and Asian Games 2018. Globally, the most searched word was World Cup followed by Avicii, Mac Miller, Stan Lee, and the Golden Globe-nominated blockbuster ‘Black Panther’.
The places that searched the most for ‘Bigg Boss’ in India were Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karnataka. The places that were most interested in searching for ‘Motu Patlu’ in India were Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha. The places that were most interested in IPL 2018 when it came to searching in India were Daman And Diu, West Bengal, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and Odisha.
‘Motu Patlu’ was also the fourth most searched TV show in the world for the year 2018. Beating heavily marketed American shows like ‘Lost in Space’ and ‘The Haunting of Hill House’ from the Netflix portfolio, Motu Patlu has emerged as the most searched Indian TV show in the world. Other TV shows that were searched a lot included ‘Roseanne’, ‘Grande Fratello’, ‘Segundo Sol’ and ‘Bodyguard’.
‘Motu Patlu’ ended 2018 with more than three billion views on WowKidz, Cosmos-Maya’s YouTube channel, despite the fact that Motu Patlu is geo-blocked on YouTube in India. As of date, Cosmos-Maya has produced more than 400 half-hour episodes of the show along with 18 TV movies and one theatrical feature film.
On the movie front ‘Robot 2.0’ was searched the most in India followed by ‘Baaghi 2’, ‘Race 3’ and the Hollywood blockbuster ‘Avengers Infinity War’. Three of the top 10 most searched movies came from Hollywood. The top most searched athletes globally were Tristan Thompson, Alexis Sánchez, Lindsey Vonn, Shaun White, and Khabib Nurmagomedov.
