Epic TV to launch separate HD channel

MUMBAI: Epic Television Networks has said that it will launch a separate high definition (HD) channel for its Hindi infotainment channel Epic TV.

The broadcaster had discontinued the Epic TV HD feed from 25 October. With the discontinuation of the HD feed, the channel will only be available in standard definition (SD) mode. Epic TV SD feed was a mirror of HD broadcast.

“Epic HD is not shut down. It’s just in the process of being revamped and coming up as a separate channel,” Epic TV Networks spokesperson told TelevisionPost.com.

The channel has also shifted from Intelsat 20 to Insat 4A from 26 October. “As part of our identity, being India ka apna infotainment, we decided it was only right to broadcast from an Indian satellite. We hence changed our satellite from IS20 to Insat4A,” the spokesperson added.

Launched in November 2014, Epic TV broadcasts India-centric content ‘Tyohaar Ki Thaali’, ‘Indipedia’, ‘Raja Rasoi Aur Andaaz Anokha’, ‘Devlok with Devdutt’, and ‘Ekaant’. The channel is skewed towards 15-30 age group male audience.
