English, Hindi news channels see growth in viewership in week 32
MUMBAI: The weekly impressions of English and Hindi news channels have seen a massive jump in week 32 of BARC India ratings. The growth in viewership can be attributed to the round the clock coverage of abrogation of Article 370 by the union government.
In the Hindi news genre, Aaj Tak saw the biggest spike with its viewership crossing 20 crore mark. Zee News jumped to the second spot with 14.7 crore impressions. News18 dropped to the third position with weekly impressions of 13.3 crore. ABP News dropped to the fifth spot even as its weekly impressions jumped to 13 crore.
In urban HSM, Zee News jumped to the second position while News18 India and India TV moved a step down. Aaj Tak remained the table topper.
Zee News also grabbed the second spot in rural HSM while News18 India dropped out of the table. Republic Bharat was the new entrant to the table.
In English news genre, the top 5 channels saw an increase in their weekly impressions. The top 3 positions remained unchanged while India Today Television and CNN-News18 swapped positions.
There was no change in the pecking order in the English business news genre.
CNBC Awaaz saw an increase in its viewership while Zee Business’ weekly impressions saw a dip.
