Eenadu Television launches OTT video destination for Telugu content

MUMBAI: Eenadu Television has launched an over the top (OTT) platform ETV Win to offer all ETV Network content on a single platform. The OTT platform is currently free, however, a premium subscription will be rolled out later.

ETV Win is available on Android and iOS as well as a web version compatible with web browsers. Users of ETV Win can stream the content through PCs, Smart Phones, Tablets and connected TVs.

Eenadu Television is a regional Telugu TV network offering seven SD and five HD channels.

Apart from TV shows, serials, infotainment content, ETV Win also offers events (live & recorded), and movies. Currently, ETV Win provides video content in Telugu language only. ETV Win has content restrictions based on the geography and therefore the content is not available in all the countries.

Under paid membership to be introduced later, ETV Win will allow access to premium content that is available on the ETV Win platform from time to time, for a period based upon the package opted.

The OTT platform plans to launch original fresh web series and shows. Free membership for certain content is available for any free user, all the time.

Eenadu Television is the recent regional broadcaster to hop on the OTT bandwagon. Recently, Odisha Television launched an Odia digital video entertainment platform TarangPlus.

The regional broadcasters are following in the footsteps of national broadcasters who have launched their own OTT platform to aggregate audiences on digital.

Star India, Sony Pictures Networks India, ZEEL, Viacom18, and Sun TV Network all have their in-house OTT platforms featuring network as well as original web content. These OTT platforms compete with global OTT majors like Amazon Prime Video and Netflix.

According to PwC’s Global Entertainment & Media Outlook 2019–2023 report, India’s over-the-top (OTT) video market will grow at a 21.8% CAGR from Rs 4464 crore in 2018 to Rs 11,976 crore in 2023.

The subscription video on demand (SVoD) will increase at a 23.3% CAGR from Rs 3756 crore in 2018 to Rs 10,708 crore in 2023. The report stated that the potential of India’s enormous scale will become reality during the forecast period with its OTT video market overtaking that of South Korea to become the eighth-biggest market in the world by 2023.

The report also stated that the total internet ad revenue for India in 2018 was Rs 8150 crore, a 40.2% year-on-year increase from 2017. The Cricket World Cup and elections in 2019 are expected to boost ad spends. Internet advertising is predicted to continue to grow rapidly in 2019 and beyond, and is forecast to be worth Rs 18445 crore in 2023.
