DEN Networks Q3 consolidated operating profit grows 20% to Rs 58 cr

MUMBAI: Cable TV and broadband service provide DEN Networks’ consolidated operating profit for the quarter ended 31st December has jumped 20% to Rs 58 crore from Rs 48 crore in the trailing quarter.

The company’s net profit for the quarter stood at Rs 12 crore as against Rs 10 crore a quarter ago.

DEN’s consolidated revenue for the quarter was Rs 318 crore compared to Rs 332 crore in Q2. Subscription revenue registered 5% growth on QoQ basis to Rs 206 crore. Placement revenue remained flat at Rs 87 crore compared to Rs 88 crore. Activation revenue came down to Rs 18 crore from Rs 29 crore.

Total cost for the quarter was down by 9% to Rs 260 crore compared to Rs 284 crore. Content costs fell 11% to Rs 142 crore from Rs 159 crore.

The cable business posted a net profit of Rs 18 crore compared to Rs 15 crore. EBITDA jumped 20% to Rs 57 crore from Rs 48 crore.

Cable revenue stood at Rs 300 crore compared to Rs 315 crore in Q2. Subscription revenue moved up 6% to Rs 189 crore. Total costs declined 9% to Rs 243 crore.

Broadband business net loss stood at Rs 5.5 crore compared to Rs 5.4 crore. EBITDA was up 28% at Rs 80 lakh from Rs 60 lakh. Revenue remained flat at Rs 17.6 crore while costs dropped marginally to Rs 16.8 crore.
