OTT platform Discovery Plus looks to carve a niche for itself with non-scripted content

Discovery India, which has launched its OTT service Discovery Plus at an introductory price of Rs. 299 a year, is counting on a few things to make a difference in a cluttered OTT market.

SPNI to realign its portfolio by discontinuing Sony Mix, Sony ESPN

Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has decided to realign its channel portfolio. The company is set to discontinue its Hindi music channel Sony Mix apart from sports channels Sony ESPN SD and HD. The channels will be discontinued from 31st March.

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has not carried out any assessment on the impact of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) new tariff order (NTO) 2.0 on the public broadcaster Prasar Bharati’s free DTH platform DD Free Dish.

Doordarshan FY19 ad rev drops to Rs 553.55 cr

Information and broadcasting (I&B) minister Prakash Javadekar has informed the Lok Sabha that public broadcaster Doordarshan’s ad revenue has dropped to Rs 553.55 crore in FY19 compared to Rs 607.08 crore in FY18. In FY17, the ad revenue stood at Rs 563.15 crore.
