Star injects fresh funding of Rs 1066 cr into Hotstar

Video on demand (VoD) platform Hotstar has received fresh round of fund infusion from its parent company Star India and Star US Holdings. The two companies have together pumped in Rs 1066 crore ($153 million) into Novi Digital Entertainment, which runs Hotstar.

Sony acquires India media rights for Olympic Games 2020

Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has been awarded the media rights in India and the Indian Subcontinent for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, as well as the Winter Youth Olympic Games Lausanne 2020. The media rights were earlier held by broadcaster Star India.

80% customers would either opt for lesser number of TV channels or switch to OTT platforms: Study

A pan-India study conducted by research company Velocity MR to understand the current TV viewing, spending patterns and sentiment of consumers has thrown up some interesting findings.
