Information & Broadcasting (I&B) minister Prakash Javadekar has said that the government has doesn’t have any proposal to bring any law to prohibit vertical and horizontal cross-holdings in the media space.

MIB granted 258 new TV channel licences, revoked 102 between FY15-19

The ministry of information and broadcasting (MIB) has granted 258 new TV channel licences in the last five financial years between FY 2014-15 till FY 2018-19. The ministry has also withdrawn 102 licences in the last five years.

Govt spent Rs 1195.94 cr on advertising across media platforms in 2018-19

The union government spent Rs 1195.94 crore on promoting its schemes through various mediums in 2018-19. This is lower than Rs 1328.06 crore that was spent in 2017-18. In the fiscal before that, the government spent Rs 1280.07 crore on advertising.
