Cinépolis India plans to take total screen count to 600 in four years

MUMBAI: Mexican multiplex chain operator Cinépolis’ India arm plans to increase its total screen count to 600 over the next four years. Currently, the multiplex chain has 87 multiplexes with 348 screens across the country.

“Probably, with the organic growth, we may reach around 600 in the next four years by 2022,” Cinepolis Asia MD Javier Sotomayor told PTI.

He further stated that the multiplex operator would also pursue inorganic growth opportunity for its expansion. “We are always looking for that possibility…we are interested, if get some in the top 60 cities of the country.”

Cinepolis opened its new six-screen multiplex at DLF Place, Saket on Monday. The company said that Cinépolis Saket will be the first multiplex by Cinépolis in North India to have a 4DX screen which is considered to be the biggest innovation in cinematic technology to date.

4DX provides the largest number of multi-sensory effects among 4D cinema brands. In addition, the multiplex will also host RealD 3D, most advanced technology for watching 3D films in theatres and Cinépolis is the only brand in India to host RealD 3D.

Cinépolis Saket will be the first multiplex by Cinépolis to have LED screens which will not only offer high dynamic range picture quality but also makes watching 3D movies more realistic through enhanced brightness and consistent colour amplification.

The newly inaugurated, Cinépolis Saket has total a total capacity of 894 seats. The entire ambience, lighting and décor of Cinépolis Saket has been changed in line with the latest in-design philosophy by the international cinema chain, giving it a more premium luxury experience. The ‘Coffee Tree’ will offer the movie connoisseurs a food menu offering cuisines from Italian to Mexican.

The brand also offers a continuous customer engagement program through ‘Club Cinépolis Program’ that allows the patron to earn and burn points on movie tickets and F&B and has exclusive benefits of special screenings, meet & greet with stars and much more.
