‘Captain Marvel’ crosses the $1 billion mark globally
MUMBAI: ‘Captain Marvel’ has crossed the $1 billion mark globally, becoming the seventh release from Marvel Studios to reach this milestone. It has made $1.038 billion and over $600 million of this has come from outside the US.
In its opening weekend (8–10 March 2019), ‘Captain Marvel’ had the biggest US debut of 2019, with $153 million in the U.S., and its $455 million global total marked the second biggest worldwide debut for a superhero film, behind only Avengers: Infinity War.
To date, the 21 films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have collectively earned more than $18.5 billion in global box office, averaging more than $880 million per film. Captain Marvel will appear next in Marvel Studios’ ‘Avengers: Endgame’, opening on 26 April 2019.
